March Ramblings
One thing about my job, every change moves at the speed of a slow turtle. The big changes I reported a few months ago are still not decided on. Wow! This is fine though because I like the way things are already. 
Now that the weather has broken, I plan on getting the pole barn finished. I’ll get some pictures up soon.
Back a few weeks ago I was able to get access to the grain tower I’ve recently spoke of. Using a 24 dbi directional antenna and a .25 amp, I was able to get a 500Kbps link with the hospital’s tower at ~6 miles. The deal here is that the hospital’s tower has a 24 dbi that isn’t even pointed in the right direction. As soon as the weather breaks I’m going to climb up and tune the antennas in. I’ve done some speed tests and it looks like the maximum speed I can get between two WRT54G routers via a wireless repeater bridge is around 16Mbps. I’m hoping for a 6 miles link at around 8-10Mbps. We’ll see and I’ll report back.
I just installed a new DVD receiver in my car, the Pioneer P4000DVD. The price was too low and I just had to buy it. It controls my iPod, reads USB drives, and plays DVDs. Next, maybe some new speakers… but it sounds pretty damn good with the premium factory speakers.
