Time for an update, I suppose. I pushed out my new directory program to the 300+ users this week. Everyone seems to be impressed and I’ve received many thanks and compliments.
We just upgraded to Comcast business class Internet service. I don’t know if it’s the speed boost or what but we’re getting 23 megs down and 2.5 megs up.
I had to contact I2K Internet services today to tell them that the tower that they’re using in Bangor to deliver fixed wireless to customers is going to have to come down. It’s our tower that they’re using for free and the property is going to be renovated. I was talking with the owner about the Internets and such, and he told me that Bangor will be getting DSL2 in the next few months. With speeds up to 20 megs at 15,000 feet, I may be able to get service. I doubt it though. Maybe they’ll offer service from the fucking MUX that’s on my property. Wouldn’t that be swell? I can hit the damn thing with a snowball right now!
Other than that, 2008 is turning out to be a shitty year. My wife’s mentor and friend just passed after a long battle with liver cancer. This weekend will be tough with all the ceremonies and such.

It was a sad day today. Someone I consider a friend had to be let go from the organization. What makes it sad is the fact that they just didn’t “get it”. They didn’t understand that a job is a privilege and not a right. Don’t come in late, don’t use proxies to try to get to blocked sites, don’t smoke on the grounds when the organization is “smoke free”, and don’t download inappropriate material. The really bad part is this person was given chance after chance to clean up their act. When you’re told that your start time is 8:00am sharp, you better damn well do whatever it takes to get to work on time. Especially when you’ve had one tardy warning and the next one makes your ass hit the pavement. You don’t proceed to punch in late three days in a row. When you’re told to check the messages, don’t let the light stay lit for three hours while you do God knows what on your computer… even after you’ve been told REPEATEDLY to check the fucking light!
Sorry man. We gave you an excellent opportunity to have a career. You didn’t even try to apply yourself. I know you’re smart individual. Why do such a lackluster job at something as important as your livelihood?
