With the AD conversion and migration to Exchange 2007 under our belts, it’s time to focus our attention to the new additions to the facility. Not only is the organization on schedule with the upcoming complex across the street, but they’ve also purchased the strip mall adjacent to the new building, both of which are going to take quite a bit of I.T. equipment. Most of our time is being spent getting ready for network connectivity, computers, and equipment.
We just went live with our IBM TS3200 Tape Library. With two Ultrium 3 drives and 48 tape capacity, this thing rocks…. when it works. We keep getting “robotic failures” on the damn thing. I’ll be working on this in the morning, but it sure beats Arcserve…

Well. It’s official. Our organization is now using Exchange 2007. The conversion went really well. The Quest migration software did its job. The only issue we’re having is certificate security. We’ll get it taken care of.
Friday night, I got called by my partner to check in on firewall issues. I was busy working when I needed to see more info on the screen. I cranked up the resolution on my 9 year old Hitachi 19” CRT. It agreed and switch to 1600 x 1200 for about 2 minutes, popped, and went black. Luckily I had a 17” in the closet to finish the job.
Best Buy had a L246WP-BN on sale for $549. I found a 10% coupon at Slickdeals.net bringing the price below $500 for a very nice 24” LCD Widescreen. (I see today the price is back up to $599) Now I’m running at a resolution of 1920 x 1200 natively.
