I just picked up and installed our new dryer today. Maybe our appliances will quit quiting soon.
The new I.T. guy started at work this week. He’s fresh and green but smart and willing. He’ll do fine. He’s probably got 10 systems to image along with other hardware installs. He’s got plenty to do. More than enough work for a 20 hour week. When work doubles its space next year, I can only see this position go full time.
Checked out the old job website to see my old position is still open. The job description basically calls for someone with a Masters degree in computer science plus experience in PBX, CNC, CAD, and CAM. Good luck with that search. :/

Not been feeling good the last few days. I’m feeling a bit better tonight though. It sure was nice to have my co-workers tell me to go home. Hell. My boss told me to go home yesterday. I did as I was instructed. Everywhere else I worked was “tough it out” or “take vacation time.”
We replace our TV with a nice 42″ Panasonic Plasma. The picture is great and its nice to see colors again. We never knew what we were missing with the old TV. Two days after our TV died, our dryer took a shit. I’ll be going to pick up a new one of those tomorrow.
I got bit by a little kitten today. I was going out to my vehicle for lunch this afternoon when I saw a few people trying to catch this little kitten that was running around the busy parking lot. I was able to grab it behind the scruf of its neck but the little shit clawed and bit me. Normally a kitten just balls up… not this one. I drove it across the street the the animal shelter. I’m sure they’ll find it a good home.

Today was a horrible day. Today, my 15 year old 46 inch Sylvania rear projection big screen TV died. We knew it was going to go and we thought of replacing it last year, but we decided to use it ’til it blew. We were lucky enough to get one more good year out of her. Ironically, not more than 1 hour after the picture died (sound was still working!), my father called me asking about TVs. He wanted to buy a new one. He’s never called me before and asked me about TVs. In the 15 years I owned that TV, he could have called me any time. Instead, he calls one hour after my TV’s ultimate demise. Ironic.
On the work front, we screened potential candidates for a new I.T. position and hired someone. He’ll be starting Monday. It sure was great to _actually_ take part in the hiring process. My partner and I looked through the resumes, I called the qualified candidates for a phone interview, I wrote up the questions to ask during the interview, and sat in on the face to face interviews when they happened. It sure is nice to be respected and appreciated at work for a change.
I was doing laundry the other day. I noticed that I have a couple of fairly expensive shirts that I bought when I first got hired at my previous job. Unfortunately they have the company logo monogrammed on them. I never really wore them at the last job either. The last place I worked did some custom artwork and sculptures in metal. Just like any “artistic” person, I didn’t agree with their taste. I spent some time tonight with a razor and cut off the monogram thread by thread. I don’t know if I did it because I’d never wore the shirt because of the ugly logo or because I still hold resentful feelings nearly half a year later.
How many licks will it take? The world may never know.
