Grim’s Place

Got all the pieces and parts for my new system. I got a Silverstone desktop case, a DFI Lanparty Ultra-D motherboard, an Opteron 165, 1 GB of PC3200 (I hope to upgrade this soon), and twin Raptor 74GB drives in RAID0. I installed Windows Server 2003 evaluation on it and have been doing some testing. The opty 165 clocks at 1.8GHz. I have it overclocked to 2.4GHz with the stock AMD heatsink and fan. That is basically the same as an AMD 4800+ for half the cost. I can probably go higher with better memory but I’ll be happy with the current speed if it’s stable.  This DFI board is the shit. I’ve never seen a motherboard that has this many overclocking features… and the dual gigabit NICs are da bomb!

Other than that, I’ve been doing a lot of VB6 programming at work (groan), I need a new vehicle, and thank God it is spring!

It’s been a bit quiet over the last few weeks.  I’ve been planing the build of my next computer.  I’m going to be going with the Opteron 165 with the DFI Ultra D mobo, 2 GB DDR, Twin 74GB Raptors in RAID0, a 320GB SATA drive for downloads, 500W modular Antec PSU.  I have a new Silverstone desktop case that I’m going to be using.  I’m bringing over equipment from my old computer.  The Nvidea 6600 PCI-E and my DVD burners.  I’m looking for a good deal on the Dell 2405FPW.  It’s $800 right now.  I’m hoping to get one for around $650.  I’ll wait.

I’ve been doing way more programming at work then I would like.  It’s been stressing me out more than I like.
