For the first time in 7 years, I Griminal, played a game online without fear of LPB’s. I myself had a ping of 49 on one server. I know this isn’t the best but I’m going through 2 linux routers and 1 hardware router plus two different wireless connectons…. all after the initial DSL connection. I’m a happy guy!
Verizon went to the DSL house yesterday and installed a whole house filter and bumped us down a tier to the 768k realm. Nagios reported the connection was up during the entire evening… even while I was downloading 2GB@ 90KB/s. I’m toying with the idea of having them move us back up to 1.5M… thinking the home wiring/box must have been the problem.
Either way, 786k@$15 a month is better than 4k@$20 a month for dialup. I cancelled my 6 year old dialup account this afternoon.

I sure hope we can get this corrected.
Connection is back up!
A couple of more days of testing and then I need to get head setup for http and ftp services. I need to get the DSL modem set into bridge mode so I can get dynamic DNS running. Right now it is in router/bridge mode (giving out IPs). After that, I have to get the 802.11g network going for the school.
My portion of the network has worked flawlessly for over a week. I’ve had zero problems with my setup. Of course the broadband connection is having issues. Last night it wasn’t up. This morning it wasn’t up. I’m fairly sure the folks have put in a service call. We’ll see. I can’t believe my luck. When the DSL folks, my wife, and I were all using it at the same time Wednesday night, it was beautiful. Did I mention my wife was talking on the phone too.
I hope to God they can get this fixed.
