I’ve pretty much converted to Linux. I’ve only been using my Desktop system to rip DVDs, manage my mp3s, and scan stuff. My new laptop has been running SimplyMEPIS 90% of the time:)
I’m looking for something similar to Visual Basic for designing apps that are platform independent. I’m having little luck.

After install distro after distro. I think I’m sticking with SimplyMEPIS. Other than the fact that I’m having problems getting some of the hardware to work… mainly because this Inspiron 9200 is so new, it’s just the best desktop Linux solution that I’ve found. In the latest version of SM, my Broadcom NIC was recogonized without a problem. Pretty soon, the wireless will be too:) I’m working on a fix for it for now.

Well. I’m still trying to get my new notebook to run Linux. I’m having problems trying to get my wireless card… an Intel/Pro 2200BG to work. I’m having little luck. I can’t seem to get the internal 56k modem to work either. It’s hard to get on the net when you don’t have a broadband connection and your modem doesn’t work off the bat. Right now I’ve got an older laptop running ipcop with an external 56k USR modem hooked into my wireless 4-port router. I’m using the wired NIC to get on the net. It’s still a freaking 56k connection.

I’ve been super busy lately. New PCs coming in for work, new laptop at home, it’s been crazy.
I’ve been setting up my 9200 with SimplyMEPIS. I’m having problems getting the Intel/Pro 2200BG to come up with ndiswrapper. Other than that, the system rocks. It plays Quake3… that’s all I really care about
