I was trying to do some work online last night and my nice DirecWay connection was acting as usual. I got XMMS running with the Winamp skin. Blasphemy!!
Finally. After 2 weeks of screwing around, I’ve finally got SimplyMEPIS running on my main computer. I had to disable my SATA RAID controller for some reason. I think that may be good because I don’t want to corrupt my WinXP install.
The only problem that I’m having so far is the USR56K PCI modem. I’m using my shared satellite connection via my Linksys WMP54G wireless card. If I had a REAL broadband connection I wouldn’t have to worry about it. For fun, I called Verizon Online and ask if I can get service 
My ISP came out and did the wireless site test. The tower I was looking at was the giant tower next to their little bitty tower. I’m not going to bother sticking up my own tower to “maybe” get signal.
By putting 3 of the Kingston HyperX 512 sticks in my computer (slots 1 - 3), I’m able to run 1GB dual channel and 512 non-dual for a combined total of 1.5GB.

It’s been a while since my last entry… hehe.
It’s been a busy X-mas. I didn’t have time to do much, let alone write about it.
I finally updated my GA-7N400 Pro2 (rev1) Gigabyte motherboard to the F11 BIOS. I was hoping to take care of a problem with trying to use (4) 512 sticks of Kingston HyperX DDR memory. It looks like the motherboard doesn’t support double sided memory in DIMM slots 3 and 4. So I have some extra memory around until I upgrade my board. Now that the board is at the latest BIOS revision, maybe SimplyMepis will freakin’ boot off the IDE channel!
“Pissed” called my ISP. He’s two miles from the tower that they’re offering wireless from. They’re doing a site check today. I still haven’t heard a mother fucking word about when my place is going to be rechecked. You figure if someone comes and does a site check at your home, they’d ‘at least’ call you to get let you know what they found out. Sticking a business card in the door isn’t the best way to communicate. You’d think they’d want to touch base with A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER to see if they can sell there service. I digress…. AGAIN!!!
Other than that, DVD Shrink is working great to backup all the kids DVDs. That’s one of my biggest worries about buying movies for him… they’ll get ruined by him handling them. I don’t have to worry about it any more.
